Motion Graphics for “The Doping Secret: Lord of the Lifters”
I spent December 2019 in Babelsberg, Potsdam working with a talented team based around topics of corruption and doping in international sports federations. I had the pleasure to work with world-renowned investigative journalists Hajo Seppelt, Nick Butler and Grit Hartmann on the 45-minute feature “Geheimsache Doping: Herr der Heber”, aired during prime time on national television flagship channel Das Erste.
The documentary by the ARD doping editorial team shows how unscrupulously the Olympic sport of weightlifting is governed. The authors go in search of traces in the realm of the Hungarian Tamás Aján, who has been President of the World Association IMF since 2000.
Next to working on the look and feel, while staying in line with the overall branding of the documentary series, I was responsible for taking complex events and mechanisms and portraying them in a coherent and enticing way using motion graphics. Additionally, two supporting animations were published as add-ons and can be viewed in the ARD media-library.View project’s website
